The Green Deal - Will it really help?
Robin Brookes is a home energy consultant. He will explain
the new Green Deal due to be launched by the government in October to help us
improve the energy efficiency of our houses. He will be sharing some
insights into how our houses work (or don't work) to keep us warm and what
other things we can do to save energy, money and carbon emissions.

Sustainable Devizes AGM and talk by members of Bradford on Avon Climate Friendly Group.
Bradford on Avon was one of the first towns in Wiltshire to set up a group to promote local sustainability and the visitors will talk about how they started and some of the things they have done since.

On 21 July 2011 ‘Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency’
With presentations by Bev Hockley and Will Turner from Good Energy
Good Energy is a locally based energy company that supplies 100% renewable energy for its customers and which is prominent in the debate about how Britain should tackle the future of energy supply.
Will began the evening by explaining the government’s Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) scheme and the ways in which Good Energy can help. Bev followed his contribution with some ideas of how individuals can reduce their energy use. This was followed by a lively discussion with the small but interested audience on a range of issues surrounding renewable energy.

Aims and objectives
The Sustainable Devizes group aims to foster a more sustainable way of life for the Devizes community and the surrounding area. The group does this by liaising and networking with existing local campaign groups and individuals and by working in partnership with local authorities and businesses. It is non party political.
Activities:
• Develop a vision of what the future might look like for Devizes and the surrounding area• Quantify the carbon footprint of Devizes, its villages and individuals and monitor change
• Build a commitment towards a more sustainable lifestyle
• Protect the natural world and ensure that future developments have a minimal impact on the environment
• Build a network of mutual interest groups to promote and exchange knowledge and ideas
